My alone feels so good, I’ll only have you if you’re sweeter than my solitude. — Warsan Shire
Successful cuddling is my Everest: “There are known knowns; there are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns; that is to say, there are things that we now know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns – there are things we do not know we don’t know.” -Donald Rumsfeld
Pre-boyfriend, the difficulties inherent in the act of successfully laying very closely next to someone was an unknown unknown, in that it had never even occurred to me there might be issues. I’d been doing it with a stuffed animal for over two decades (#dark), how hard could it be with an actual person? Turns out, medium to really very hard.
Now, cuddling is a known unknow — I know that shit is tricky! If there is a way to spoon without someone’s arm falling asleep, or being forced into some position only achievable by Russian contortionists, I have not yet found it. If anyone has any tips for turning cuddling into a “known known” for me, I’d really effing appreciate it!
